Small Town Summer Wedding in Greensburg, Kansas
WEDDING DATE We got married on September 19, 2020. I was all about planning my date around the weather. In Kansas, the weather is super unpredictable so I wanted to choose a time that I felt we’d have the best chance of having beautiful weather! I knew I didn’t want to do summer cause I’m always hot, and not winter cause I didn’t want to be cold. Spring was out because of rain, wind, and potential tornadoes which basically left September or October as potential months!
THE PROPOSAL We got engaged on Christmas Eve. I knew he had bought the ring sometime around August so I had just been waiting for him to finally use it! The closer we got to Christmas without him proposing yet, the more I figured it was probably going to happen then. He actually wrapped the ring box up in multiple boxes so I had to keep opening to finally find it. With the ring was a note that asked all the important questions. It was him, his daughter, and myself when it finally happened! Everything was perfect.
WEDDING PLANNING MANTRA I really just thought about how I would remember this day for the rest of my life. I’ve always been a planner and joke that if I lived somewhere else I would be a wedding planner; so luckily, especially during covid, it didn’t really get very hard for me.
FAVORITE MOMENT Hands down when I walked down the aisle and stepped up to be with Terran. Since we didn’t do a first look, the anticipation made that moment so special.
THE DRESS I took my mom, mother in law, aunt, and matron of honor/best friend. I probably tried on about 15 before finding the one. I know everyone always says when you know you know, and it’s absolutely true. When I think back to the day I found it, I remember hearing the words, “this is the one” come out of my mouth before I had even consciously decided. I just love how unique but timeless my dress is.
BEST ADVICE Don’t be afraid to really take your time and be specific in what you want. I had two hair trials with the same lady and wasn’t satisfied at either one. She came on wedding day and I laid every single detail out that I wanted and my hair was perfect. It’s your day, do what you want and don’t feel bad about how others will feel about your decisions.
THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE OUR DAY So. Much. Love. I asked my husband and he said, “way too fast.” Definitely take in every single moment!
HE SAYS … Katelynn’s very loving to everyone around her. She’s the best cook and takes care of my daughter like her own.
SHE SAYS … Terran'’s the type of person I’ve always said I would never marry, but the one who absolutely completes me. He’s just like my dad (hence my previous statement) and loves me unconditionally. He really is the best.
