Intimate September Wedding at Stirnella

Well, it’s official! I got my first full wedding feature published in Wedding Essentials Omaha – a local wedding planning guide for couples in Omaha, Nebraska.

The wedding they chose to feature was perfect. Jessica and Jordan personalized their wedding in so many unique ways. Here are five of my favorite elements:

— ONE: They chose a venue that had significance to their life and that fit the vibe they wanted. Jessica is brand manager for Stirnella. The unique layout of the space worked perfect to host ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing – not to mention the dinner menu was bomb. The space also worked well with the color palette.

— TWO: The guest list for the ceremony and dinner was limited to immediate family and a few close friends. An evening arrival time was set for other friends and family to come to the reception. Because their guest list was small, it meant they could make time for everyone and make their presence something special by truly showing they intentionally wanted each person they invited to be there.

— THREE: Everyone they included in their wedding day, was already part of their lives. They didn’t hire anyone they didn’t already know. I was their photographer, but I was also a friend first. Another super close friend officiated, a niece played the guitar and an uncle built the backdrop.

— FOUR: Little details. Jessica is an artist and she hand-painted tiny canvases for each guest as their place card. Her guestbook was also a recipe book. They said vows on a rug that will be placed in their new home. Every little element was intentional and had meaning.

— FIVE: They didn’t stick to traditional aspects for the sake of ultra-generic tradition. They had their first dances with their moms together and it was one of the best moments I’ve ever witnessed.
